1-Watt NDG7475 Laser Diode in 12mm Copper Module w/ G-2 Lens – 22AW…

Because the NDG7475 laser diode is a multi-mode diode you will always get a rectangle as opposed to a dot. This is a characteristic of all multi-mode laser diodes. You want to focus it so you have the cleanest and thinnest line possible.

  1. Believe this was one similar that comes w most everything ya need. Then I got a flashlight powered by x2 18650 batteries off ebay for the body
  2. [11:13 AM]But they make more powerful one that’s the blue 5 watt

  1. I literally just took the light part out, sodered the capsule to the flashlight chip…and got a nice round aluminum heatsink that fit it all perfect….fit the laser capsule into and it fit perfectly inside the flashlight head!
  2. [11:17 AM]The green says it’s 1 watt but I get around 2 watts w my setup…and can get 3 watts if you really push it w an external dc power supply. The nichia numb44 blue is 7 watts!
  3. 7-Watt NUBM44 Laser Diode in 12mm Copper Module w/ G-2 Lens – 22AWG…
  4. Because the NUBM44 laser diode is a multi-mode diode you will always get a rectangle as opposed to a dot. This is a characteristic of all multi-mode laser diodes. You want to focus it so you have the cleanest and thinnest line possible.

The heatsink looked like this. It was just a single one…wanna say around the same length as the capsule. I’d get the full capsule and not just the head because…

  1. …..the head, you then gotta find and soder a chip, and also find a lens and all….so get the complete capsule like I sent above (sen links for both the blue 7 watt and the green one I got that says it’s 1 watt but is really closer to 2-3 watts).
  2. [11:21 AM]Then the flashlight I used for the body you can see in the pics above and find the same one on Amazon or such…and the 18650 batteries it comes w are the perfect power source!
  3. [11:26 AM]So need:
    • the laser diode w module (the Nichia NDG7475 is one I got or the Nichia NUBM44 is more powerful 7 watts and blue…make sure to get it already w the module to save ya a painful process and the g2 lens it comes w is good)
    • a round heatsink that will hold the laser module and fit inside the flashlight head
    • a flashlight body that’s ran off min of x3 18650 batteries (I got a cheap Skywolfeye flashlight 2 pack that came w the 18650 batteries)
    Then just assemble it all!
  1. I wanna get the Nichia Num36 and build a larger 100 watt laser using a projector lens next lol
  2. [11:35 AM]That laser you sent link above ^ is a monster!!! Need a large contraption like I wanna do w the Numb36 I just spoke of. Was thinking an old radar gun…take the guts out…then gott put a huge heatsink (large block of aluminum shaped, and also some Indium foil)…then gotta have a lithium ion power bank(s) or one of these new power tool lithium ion battery packs to power it. Something that big need at least 40 volts or so to power. But can build one like I did w all above or the blue 7 watt one and use either a lithium ion power pack or some 18650 batteries in series to power it!
  3. [11:36 AM]Thats been the biggest problem w some lasers…the power source had to be huge…but tech the last few years we can now have small portable super power supplies! So sky’s the limit!

Once you find the laser diode you wanna use…can Google search for the manufacturer sheet (may take some digging) and find the power (voltage, amperage, watts) requirements…then just reverse engineer it! The 2 biggest things w lasers is finding the power source that’s the right volts/amps = watts for it…and then being able to keep it cool. Tech is there now though!

  1. But no the one I got and you see in the pic is only a 1 watt (Nichia NDG7475)..but I’m getting 2 watts from it…can push 3 watts only. And trust me 1 watt is enough to burn a hole into anything lol That 7 watt Nichia NUBM44 is a beast! And the one you showed the Numb37 100 watts…is absolutely insane!!!! But all info is above. Pretty much whichever one ya wanna build and I can help ya out and tell ya what all you would need. Or I could redirect you to StyroPyro YouTube channel and can see a bunch of it all! Make sure the 1 watt or 7 watt to get the module, it’ll save ya a huge headache and is actually cheaper just to buy it all assembled then trying to buy and soder everything together yourself. Anything that’s an array (is multiple of the NDG7475 or Num44 heads). 1 watt, especially green is a lot…7 watt blue is holy sh*t power! And both will blind you super fast without the right glasses that are for the wavelength of the lassr…so the safety glasses I got for my green one wouldnt work w the blue wavelength. No joke don’t even have to point them at your face….just looking at the beam or dot downrange is so bright and powerful it’ll blind ya without the right laser safety glasses…and start fires, ignite clothing, burn skin, ect…so be careful if ya do this!
